Biden discussed with Tinubu the need to release the Binance employee
President Bola Tinubu spoke with his American counterpart, Joe Biden, on the phone.
The conversation that took place on Tuesday centered on a Binance employee named Tigran Gambarayan, who was arrested for money laundering.
A White House statement said the two leaders also discussed strengthening security agencies and demanding the release of one of the cryptocurrency exchange company’s employees.
“President Tinubu also thanked the United States for cooperation in various fields, especially security in Africa and West Africa as a whole,” the statement said.
President Biden assured Tinubu that the cooperation between the countries would continue to exist because the future of the world depends on Africa. Therefore, it is important.
They also discussed the need to give Africa a permanent seat in the Security Council of the United Nations.
Biden also used the opportunity to condole with Nigeria over the flood that occurred in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.
