🛡️ Your Role: Humanitarian Access, Safety & Security Officer

As our HASSO, you’ll help ensure that our teams can safely reach people in need while upholding humanitarian values. You’ll work directly under the Field Coordinator and receive technical guidance from the Senior Humanitarian Access Safety & Security Manager (SHASSM).

🔑 Key Responsibilities

✅ Access & Acceptance

Develop access strategies tailored to local communities
Strengthen relationships with local leaders and authorities
Help the team safely enter new areas
Promote acceptance of our work among community members

✅ Safety & Security

Lead regular safety briefings and drills
Monitor risks and keep emergency kits ready
Track and analyze security incidents
Conduct risk assessments at office and staff locations
Coordinate a team of trained security focal points

✅ Liaison & Advocacy

Engage regularly with government officials, security actors, and community leaders
Map and address access barriers in remote areas
Keep updated contact databases and access profiles

✅ Analysis & Reporting

Report monthly security updates to management
Track safety trends and prepare response strategies
Participate in investigations when incidents occur

✅ Training & Capacity Building

Train staff on security protocols and emergency preparedness
Provide safety orientation for new hires

👥 Who You’ll Work With

Reports to: Field Coordinator
Technical Supervision: SHASSM

📚 What We’re Looking For

🎓 Education

Bachelor’s degree in Security Management or related discipline

🧭 Experience (Required)

1–3 years in security roles, preferably in humanitarian or conflict settings
Strong skills in security monitoring, incident tracking, and risk assessment
Experience leading training and building staff awareness
Proficiency in English and local languages

🌟 Bonus (Preferred)

Experience in the Northwest region
Background with INGOs or the IRC
Women are especially encouraged to apply
