Manchester United have reached a full agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha for a reported fee of £62.5 million.

The 26-year-old Brazil international is set to become United’s first major signing of the summer transfer window.

According to sources close to the club, United have agreed to pay the full fee upfront, reflecting the club’s strong belief in Cunha’s abilities and long-term potential.

Cunha will sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with an option to extend his stay by an additional 12 months.

The Brazilian star has already completed his medical examination, clearing an important step in the transfer process.

Despite the agreement being in place and the medical completed, the transfer will only be officially finalised after Cunha represents Brazil in their upcoming World Cup qualifier on Friday.

The finalization clause has been included to allow Cunha to focus on national team duties without immediate pressure from the move.

Cunha initially joined Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid in 2022 before making his move to Molineux permanent in 2023.

His performances at Wolves have drawn significant attention, with his flair, movement, and creativity standing out in the Premier League.

Atletico Madrid had signed him in 2021, where he made a name for himself with quick footwork and smart attacking instincts.

Manchester United have been monitoring Cunha for some time and view him as a player who can add depth and dynamism to their forward line.

Manager Erik ten Hag is said to be a long-time admirer of Cunha’s versatility, with the Brazilian capable of playing as a central striker or across the front three.

The signing is part of a wider rebuild at Old Trafford as United look to bounce back from an underwhelming campaign.

Cunha’s arrival will be officially confirmed by the club once he completes international duties, with fans eagerly awaiting the announcement and unveiling.
