The Chairman of the Nigerian Film Board, Ali Nuhu, delivered a lecture at a conference on how Nigerian films can enter the global market.
The meeting involved major stakeholders discussing various strategies to introduce Nigerian movies to the world.
The Nigerian dignitaries who took part in the meeting included Lai Muhammad, the former Minister of Culture and Information during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, Rahama Sadau, the chairman of the National Economic Development Committee for Technology and Modern Skills, and other dignitaries involved in the Nigerian film industry.
In a post on his Facebook page, Ali Nuhu, the actor, mentioned that he delivered a lecture at the Nigerian International Film Festival in Cannes, France. His lecture focused on the topic “Global Outreach for Nigerian Films: Opportunities and Limitations.”
He highlighted the increasing global interest in diverse stories, the advancements in digital technology, and the significance of collaborating with international filmmakers. He emphasized that such collaborations would facilitate the global distribution of Nigerian films.
“Also, I touched on the challenges that this movement is facing, including the lack of money, tools, and marketing and the ways to solve all these things easily.
“The Ministry of Culture and Innovation is working hard to provide financial support and to improve the ways and business institutions, such as the cooperation of major investment companies such as ‘Afredimbank’ and others in supporting and restoring the reputation of great experts.” There are film productions that are trying to collapse, where we hope to do everything necessary before a NIFS event that will be held this year in 2024 in Cannes.”
Ali Nuhu is the chairman of the Nigerian Film Board, which was appointed by the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the beginning of this year, 2024. Since his appointment, the actor has been looking for ways for this board to develop the film industry in Nigeria.
Until now, he has attended major meetings in and outside Nigeria to explore ways in which the film industry in Nigeria can compete with its counterparts in the world through experience, development, and modern equipment, which will make them produce great movies that they will be proud of and maybe they will get awards like Oscar and the like.
